The Best Investment I ever Made.
There was a time when I believed that if I just worked harder, I would figure it out.
That’s how I had always operated. Work ethic was my solution to everything. If something felt uncertain, I studied more. If I felt insecure, I trained more. If I felt stuck, I tried to out-discipline it.
But there came a point in my life when more effort wasn’t the answer.
When I left coaching basketball and started asking myself, “What’s next?” I felt disoriented. I questioned my value outside of sports. I questioned whether I had anything meaningful to offer beyond what I had always known.
And the loudest voice in that season wasn’t encouragement.
It was my inner critic.
It told me I wasn’t ready.
That I didn’t know enough.
That other people were more qualified.
That I should wait.
I tried to coach myself through it. I journaled. I read. I listened to podcasts. And those things helped — but they didn’t fully shift me.
What shifted me was hiring a coach.
Not someone who gave me answers but someone who asked me better questions.
….and I’ll never forget the question that shifted everything for me, “Missy, what alibi’s have you been using to stay where you currently are?”
My coach noticed when I was shrinking.
My coach challenged the stories I was treating as facts.
My coach didn’t let me off the hook when fear was masquerading as logic.
Now I’ll be honest, coaching didn’t make my fear disappear.
It helped me identify where it showed up most and move forward with it.
It helped me see that my inner critic wasn’t the truth — it was a habit.
It helped me separate who I am from what I’m afraid of.
It helped me take action before I felt fully prepared.
And slowly, that changed everything.
I built a business I once thought I wasn’t smart enough to build.
I stepped on stages I once thought I wasn’t confident enough to stand on.
I created programs I once thought I wasn’t capable of designing.
And because of this, I have positively impacted thousands and thousands of people across the country.
Not because I suddenly became fearless.
But because I stopped trying to do it alone.
That experience is why I care so deeply about the work I do now.
When women come to me — athletes, professionals, leaders — they rarely lack talent. They rarely lack drive. What they’re wrestling with is the voice in their head when the pressure rises.
The voice that ties performance to worth.
The voice that spirals after a mistake.
The voice that questions whether they belong.
The voice that whispers, “Maybe you’re not enough.”
The voice that says you should speak up.
That voice is heavy to carry by yourself and sometimes all you need is a new perspective.
In my one-on-one coaching, we don’t just talk about goals. We look at the thinking underneath them. We look at the beliefs shaping decisions. We look at the patterns that keep repeating.
And we work on shifting the inner critic into something stronger — an inner coach.
Someone who can say, “Yes, this is hard. And you can do hard things.”
Someone who can say, “You made a mistake. Now reset.”
Someone who can say, “You don’t need to be perfect to move forward.”
I show up as a partner in that work. Direct. Honest. Compassionate. I won’t sugarcoat what needs to change, but I will stand with you while you change it.
Coaching helped me become the woman I am today. It’s still the best investment I ever made.
Like it did for me, It can help you become who you’re trying to grow into.
Why This Matters
There is only so far you can go arguing with your own thoughts.
Growth accelerates when someone else helps you see what you can’t see, challenges what you’ve normalized, and reminds you of your strength when you forget it.
You don’t have to keep figuring it out alone.
